C. Rangarajan to address Third Finance and Investment Summit

C. Rangarajan, the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, will address the Third Finance and Investment Summit here on Wednesday.

The event, which is being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will focus on the theme - Financial Inclusion for Reviving Growth: Success Stories, Challenges and the Road Ahead.

Dr. Rangarajan will address the inaugural session as chief guest on Wednesday morning.

The summit is expected to focus key challenges, the need and nature of resources required to achieve financial inclusion.

In the Northern Region especially, this is the only tool to empower the currently unbanked population to participate and drive the growth of economy.

There would be special sessions on (1) financial inclusion for reviving growth; (2)new private sector banks and their potential role in promoting financial inclusion; (3) tapping rural market - role of insurance, pension fund industry and rural cooperative banks and (4) financing the infrastructure development - extending infrastructure to the last mile.

Yogesh Agarwal, Chairman, PFRDA; Dr. Anup Wadhawan, Joint Secretary (BA and PI), Department of Financial Services; R K Dubey, Chairman and Managing Director, Canara Bank; B B Joshi, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda; Serge Devieux, Director - South Asia, International Finance Corporation; Joseph Plappallil J., Chairman and Managing Director, Agriculture Insurance Company of India Ltd; Dr.N Kamakodi, Managing Director and CEO, City Union Bank Ltd; Raja Gopalakrishnan, Group Managing Director, Asia Pacific and Chief Operating Officer, International, FIS and Debashish Mohanty, Executive Vice President and Country Head - Retail, UTI, will be some of the other key speakers at the event.
