Cameroon midfielder Patrick Ekeng has tragically passed away after falling to the ground while playing a league match with his Romanian club Dinamo Bucharest last evening.
The 26-year-old collapsed on the pitch without any contact with another player just minutes after he came in as a substitute during the match, Sport24 reported.
Ekeng was immediately taken to hospital where he was declared dead after attempted resuscitation.
Ekeng had played for several European clubs, spending four seasons with French Ligue 2 side Le Mans from 2009 to 2013 before arriving in Romania.
