Canada's first Consul General in Bengaluru, Mr. Sidney Frank, started his assignment today. In his new role, Mr. Frank will be responsible for expanding Canada's presence and engagement in South India.
"I am thrilled to start my mandate as Canada's Consul General in Bengaluru and look forward to expanding trade and immigration ties in this dynamic region of India. Canada's enhanced presence in Bengaluru demonstrates our commitment to deepen Canada-India relations," said Consul General Frank.
Canada's Consulate General of Canada in Bengaluru was formally opened by the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, during his visit to Bengaluru in February 2014.
Under the leadership of Mr. Frank, the Consulate General of Canada in Bengaluru will be equipped with a visa and immigration service point for Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Frank held the position of Minister (Immigration) and South Asia regional director at the High Commission of Canada in New Delhi. He joined the International Division of Citizenship and Immigration Canada in 1992 and has previously been posted to Manila, Beijing, Hong Kong and New Delhi. This is his third posting to India.
Located at the World Trade Centre in the city, the Consulate General in Bangalore is the largest Consulate General in the country after the High Commission in New Delhi.
