CBI files chargesheet against 10 accused in bribery case in Delhi

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against ten accused persons in a bribery case of Rs.30 lakh before the Special Judge, CBI, Patiala House Courts here.

Those accused include the then Superintendent Engineer, Civil Line Zone; two then Assistant Engineers, MCD, Rohini Zone, two Junior Engineers of MCD/DDA, three Beldars of MCD, Rohini Zone/Civil Line Zone; one private person of DLF Phase-I, Gurgaon (Haryana) and another private person of Delhi.

It was alleged that the accused officials of MCD were demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.30 lakh as a part payment out of Rs. 50 lakh from the private persons, for which the deal was allegedly struck between the parties for grant of regularization to the Banquet Hall at Wazirpur Industrial Area.

The private persons including one owner of Gurgaon-based private firm were also arrested while offering the alleged bribe to public servants.

During the course of investigation, approximately a sum of Rs.74 lakh was recovered from the residence of a JE of MCD and movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs.1 crore, including Rs.37 lakh in cash was recovered from the residence of a Beldar of MCD.
