The Chandigarh District Court on Monday refused to take rape accused Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sucha Singh Langah into custody, and asked him to surrender before the Gurdaspur District Court.

Langah was booked for rape on Saturday and attempted to surrender before Chandigarh's District Court today.

The former Punjab minister was booked in Gurdaspur on the basis of complaint of a woman constable of the Punjab Police. He had been escaping custody by remaining underground.

The victim alleged that the Akali Dal leader had been repeatedly raping her since 2009 and submitted a video clip to substantiate her allegation.
