Chefs unveil mystery food basket challenge in Goa

Chefs working in various reputed hotels across Goa unveiled the mystery food basket to participate in a challenge.

The competition is aimed at identifying talent and passion in young chefs and to offer them a platform on which they could present their skills before the hospitality industry at large.

Celebrity chef and judge at the event, Sudhir Pai, explained the rules of the competition.

"There are a lot of young chefs who have presented very nice food, very different in terms of concept of the food, the mystery basket concept, wherein we gave them a basket and they never knew what ingredients were there. So within 10-15 minutes they have to decide what they want to actually make," said Pai.

The chefs were challenged to prepare a soup, starter, one main course accompanied with rice in a time span of one hour using the basket of ingredients which was a mystery for them till unveiled.

A participant chef, Michael, who accepted the challenge said that it was interesting to discover the ingredients of the mystery basket and prepare dishes out of it.

"I prepared cream and broccoli almond soup. And I felt really good to present it," said Michael.

A panel of celebrity judges and around 300 guests were present to taste the gourmet prepared by the chefs.
