In a military collaboration between China and Pakistan, the former will construct four submarines in Pakistan. It is a part of a deal for the acquisition of submarines from China for the Pakistan Navy.
According to The Dawn, the Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said that China would transfer the technology to Pakistan for submarine construction and a training centre would be set up in Karachi for this purpose.
Though, the minister did not specify the type of submarines being purchased from China. But it is highly speculated that a deal has been signed for Yuan-class Type-041 diesel-electric submarines, which is equipped with AIP systems.
Earlier, Pakistan could not materialise the deals for buying the submarines with France and Germany.
