The China-U.S. Strategic Security Dialogue will kick off in Beijing on October 29.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said on Tuesday that the meeting would be co-chaired by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui, reports Xinhua.
Both sides will exchange views on the China-U.S. relations as well as strategic security issues of mutual concern, Lu said.
Earlier, China had voiced its concern over the deployment of Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) to South Korea in a bid to neutralise Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) mounting nuclear threat.
Also, the relationship between the U.S. and China is seemingly tensed as Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte made some anti-U.S. remarks during his visit to China.
Last week, taking into note the report of a U.S. Navy warship passing through disputed islands in the South China Sea, Beijing called the move "illegal" and "provocative" and the Chinese Government's mouthpiece, Global Times, said in an editorial, "This was a provocation by the US, flagrantly telling the world that it doesn't want to see peace in the South China Sea, and that it wants waves there. If no one helps it, it will make them itself.
