Chris Brown has signed into a rehabilitation facility before his court date to avoid a prison sentence.
The 24-year-old American recording artist issued a statement revealing that he has "elected to enter a rehab facility and his goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point", CNN reported.
Brown, who was arrested in Washington on an assault charge after he got into an altercation with a man outside W Hotel, has landed in legal trouble for anger issues and going to rehab will help his lawyer argue that he is getting proper help for his core problem.
The 'Forever' singer is currently on probation for the brutal attack on former girlfriend Rihanna on the eve of the Grammys in February 2009.
