Director General of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Chandrajit Banerjee on Monday while congratulating Narendra Modi on his assuming office as prime minister, expressed hope to work closely with him as a partner in national development.

"On behalf of CII, I offer my felicitations to Hon'ble Shri Narendrabhai Modi, the new Prime Minister of India. CII was fortunate to work closely with Hon'ble Prime Minister during his term as Chief Minister of Gujarat when we partnered on innovative new initiatives for industrial growth in the state. We believe Hon'ble Prime Minister would shape a strong agenda to engage private sector entrepreneurs with national development, including through structured dialogue mechanisms and shared activities. CII would present its suggestions on the policy framework for growth, as also its ongoing and proposed programme of action with the new Government," Banerjee said.

"Indian industry would build on its association with Hon'ble Prime Minister to forge an extensive partnership with the new Government and facilitate a conducive climate for growth and investment. As a partner in national development, CII would proactively work with the Government on joint initiatives that would best enable empowerment of the people of India. CII strongly appreciates the selection of Cabinet Members. We are delighted to see a lean team. A lean teamwork would definitely lead to effective governance. CII looks forward to working with Hon'ble Shri Modiji and his team across multiple strands of India's growth story, and wishes the new Government all success in transforming India into a developed nation," Banerjee added.
