A coffee table book was launched in Mumbai to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary music composer R.D. Burman.
The book titled 'Diamonds and Rust' was released ahead of the 76th birth anniversary of Burman, which falls on June 27.
A documentary was also unveiled on the occasion.
Bollywood filmmakers Brahmanand S. Siingh and Ashutosh Gowariker paid glowing tributes to Burman, who had created a niche for himself in Bollywood for his experiments in classical and western music.
"This is a combination of the book as well as documentary. We have shown a lot many rare photographs. All the information that you see in the documentary is also in the book but that's photographs," said Gowariker.
Singh had earlier presented a priceless collection of interviews on Burman and his life in 'Pancham Unmixed'.
Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpai, also present at the launch, said that the documentary was a lesson in itself.
"This is a combination of the book as well as documentary. We are shown a lot many rare photographs. All the information that you see in the documentary is also in the book, but that's photographs," said Bajpai.
In a career spanning three decades, Burman composed music for 331 movies. He died at the age of 54 on January 4, 1994.
