The Congress Party on Monday condemned expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh's derogatory slur on BSP supremo Mayawati and said using such remarks for a Dalit woman is a heinous crime.
Disapproving Dayasankar's unwarranted remark, Congress leader P.L. Punia said the society does not approve the same.
"Dayashankar Singh's remark against Mayawati ji is extremely shameful. It is a punishable offence if such person in the society uses such derogatory remarks for a woman only because she belongs to the Dalit community," he told ANI.
Dayashankar, who was earlier arrested for making derogatory comments against Mayawati and subsequently booked under the SC/ST Act, on Sunday equated the BSP supremo to a 'dog' and called her a 'coward woman'.
However, he later denied equating Mayawati to a dog.
He had earlier in July called Mayawati a "prostitute" while accusing her of selling her party tickets to the highest bidders.
