Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, who attended the all-party meeting ahead of the Winter Session, on Wednesday, urged the Parliament to condemn growing intolerance in the country and direct the government to ensure that communal polarization is brought to an end.

Yechury said that he has submitted a notice to the House in this regard.

"On the question of rising intolerance and communal polarization, I had given a notice which has been accepted by the chairman. It has been bulletined and therefore that has to be taken up. It is for the house to pass a resolution condemning intolerance and calling upon the government to implement the law of the land to ensure that such hate speeches and polarization is put to an end. It is a one line resolution that has been accepted by the chairman," Yechury told the media persons here.

Parties including the Congress and the JD (U) have already submitted their notices for adjournment motions, demanding a debate on the issue of intolerance and passage of a resolution condemning such incidents.

Meanwhile, the government will look to reach out to the opposition parties to ensure smooth business in both Houses amid anticipation that the session could be stormy with the opposition planning to corner the government on various issues.

The Winter Session of the Parliament is set to begin from tomorrow.

During nearly month-long session, around 30 bills, including GST and Real Estate regulation Bills, are slated to be taken up for consideration and passing.

In the Monsoon Session, Congress-led opposition had disrupted the Monsoon session of the Parliament over the Lalit Modi row and the Vyapam scam.
