Dalai Lama urges media to unleash truth about corrupt leaders

Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has urged Indian media to make the nation's citizens aware about the truth of corrupt leaders through clear and honest reporting.

Speaking on the sidelines of his address at the 92nd Association of Heads of Anglo-Indian Schools of India at the Bishop Cotton School here on Sunday, the Dalai Lama said: "Media people should have long nose like elephant nose and smell everywhere and make public (aware) what (is) really going on including those corrupted people. (They should) make clear provided (it) must be honest, truthful, objective, then make clear (to) public."

The Dalai Lama, who is based in India since 1959, says he is merely seeking greater autonomy for his Himalayan homeland.

Many Tibetans say Chinese rule has eroded their culture and religion. They are agitating for the Dalai Lama's return from exile in India, and genuine autonomy for their homeland.

China denies trampling Tibetan rights and boasts of having brought development and prosperity to the region.
