A Delhi court recorded the statement of former Telecom Minister A Raja, a key accused facing trial in the 2G spectrum case.

A. Raja was questioned by the court over his involvement in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

"The questions which were asked under 313 of CRPC numbering 1700 odd questions. From morning itself, I finished my answers to all questions and finished my 313 questions," said Raja.

A Special CBI Judge OP Saini started the recording of the statement of the accused by saying that it was a "direct conversation" between the accused and the judge. The stage for the recording of evidence of Raja and 16 other accused, including DMK MP Kanimozhi, was set earlier when the court had supplied a draft questionnaire containing 1,718 questions running into 824 pages to the accused.

Meanwhile, A Raja's counsel Manu Sharma said the next set of accused in the case would be examined soon.

"It's a day to day proceeding which is about the judge putting the prosecution evidence to the accused to take his explanations so that has been going on. Today, it started and ended for Mr. A. Raja and now the next set of accused will be examined tomorrow onwards. So, about 850 pages of questions, about 1700-1800 questions were put and all were responded to by Mr. A. Raja," said Sharma.
