It isn't Christmas if people do not debate about 'Die Hard' being a Christmas movie.

Around this time every year, fans go back and forth discussing whether the Bruce Willis classic should be in the same category as holiday movies 'Christmas Carol', 'Home Alone' and so on.

Perhaps helping to finally turn the tide, the screenwriter responsible for 'Die Hard' has settled the debate by confirming that the Bruce Willis starrer is indeed a Christmas movie.

Responding to a fan screenwriter Steven E de Souza weighed in on the debate via Twitter and wrote, "DH is about love, devotion, sacrifice, generosity, and resisting evil - how could it not be a Christmas movie?"

Despite involving terrorists and being released in July, the film is also set on Christmas Eve, and tackles the notions of greed and resolution, making it a fitting festive film.

De Souza added, "Plus a woman about to give birth features prominently."

He even joked Fox "rejected the Purim draft," using the hashtag "Die Hard Is A Christmas Movie."

The flick stars Willis, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald VelJohnson and the late Alan Rickman.
