Dinesh D'Souza has revealed that his faith in "an independent judiciary" has been affirmed after he was sentenced to five years probation, and eight months in a community confinement center.

The conservative author and filmmaker said that the light sentence, for campaign finance fraud, will allow him to avoid prison time, thereby give him time to continue his work, the Huffington Post reported.

According to Fox News, D'Souza found a positive takeaway from his sentencing and said that he now has "a big smile".
