South African batsman AB De Villiers has said that he would give his support to the side's new Test Captain Hashim Amla, even though he is disappointed at missing out on becoming the nation's next skipper.
Despite De Villiers being reportedly expected to be named as South Africa's next Test skipper, Amla was named as Graeme Smith's successor on Tuesday.
According to Sport24, De Villiers, who captains the nation's ODI team, admitted that he was disappointed after not being named as the Test skipper, but added that he accepted the decision and would not let his disappointment ruin his good relationship with Amla.
De Villiers, who would be Amla's deputy in Tests, said that it would be very stupid of him to let the decision negatively influence his game and his role in the team, adding that he assures Amla of his support.
