Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic overcame a fierce challenge from Juan Martin del Potro to defend his Shanghai Masters title with a 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 victory, after the Argentine made his way to the final with the help of some great heroics against Rafael Nadal.
According to Sport24, the Argentine, who stands six feet six inches tall, came into the match trailing 9-3 in head-to-heads, with their last meeting coming at this year's Wimbledon, where Djokovic prevailed in a five-set semi-final.
Del Potro, 25, has qualified for the elite season-ending World Tour Finals in London, featuring the season's top eight players, the report said.
Other confirmed qualifiers are Nadal, Djokovic and Spain's David Ferrer, the report added.
Victory for Djokovic, who won last week's China Open in Beijing, gives him a 20th consecutive win in China, according to the report.
