Ducati officially marked its arrival in India with its subsidiary Ducati India private limited on Friday.

This is Ducati's 12th subsidiary worldwide.

Ducati also launched the Scrambler Classic and Throttle today at their Gurgaon showroom, which according to Ducati is one of its largest stores around the world.

Ducati plans to make its presence felt all across India. Mumbai and Delhi already have dealerships and there are plans to expand to Bangalore by October this year. The first phase also sees them covering Pune and Hyderabad.

Talking about the expansion plans, Ducati India Pvt. Limited Managing Director, Ravi Avalur said, "The Pune and Hyderabad dealerships should be up and running by the end of this calendar year."

Ducati currently have no plans to build bikes in India and will import all bikes from Thailand, where they have their factory.

"Bookings have exceeded expectations and forecasts are now being changed. The maximum waiting period for any bike is two months. Surprisingly the Diavel range is doing pretty well and the demand has been overwhelming," said Pierfrancesco Scalzo Ducati Asia General Manager - Sales and Marketing.

"In the Scrambler Range, three models are already available in India and the fourth, the Enduro will be available after homologation is completed. The Multistrada Range, which is still not available in Asia, shall also be available in India by October," said Ravi.

The second phase of expansion shall cover the cities of Calcutta, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Indore and Jaipur by March 2017. "The target is to have 13 dealers by the end of the next financial year," he said.

"Having so many dealers will help provide proper service and rides all over the country to Ducati customers," he added. (ANI)
