The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday announced that voting in the Alapur constituency of Ambedkar Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh will take place on March 9.
The nominations will be filed between February 14 and February 20.
They will be scrutinized on February 21.
The elections to the constituency were postponed earlier on Sunday following the death of Samajwadi Party candidate Chandrashekhar Kanaujia, who passed away after having a heart attack during an election campaign in Ambedkar Nagar.
As per law, if candidate of a recognised party passes away before the polling has commenced - the polls are countermanded, the party is given time to field a new candidate and polling is fixed for new date.
The polls were previously scheduled for February 15.
