Former Manchester United star Andrei Kanchelskis has backed misfired forward Memphis Depay, saying that the latter has a potential to become the best winger in the world.
"He (Depay) is a very good player. He has the potential to become the best winger in the world," Kanchelskis was quoted as saying by goal.com.
The 21-year-old forward has been struggling with form ever since he joined Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven on a four-year contract last June.
Depay,however, had played an instrumental role in helping PSV secure their first Dutch title since 2008. He also scored 22 goals and was the top scorer of the 2014-15 season in the Eredivisie League.
Describing Depay as a 'skilful' winger, Kanchelskis insisted that the 21-year-old had a good crossing ability and a great change of pace.
Meanwhile, Kanchelskis had won the Premier League twice and also led his side to the FA Cup and League Cup glory during his four-year spell with United.
