Several ex-servicemen and their family members were on Sunday stopped by the police at the Jantar Mantar while they were marching to demand the One Rank One Pension (OROP) and pay homage to the soldiers who lost their lives at the border.

"We had informed of our protest since April 25. They (police) were fine with it but when today morning we asked for police over the same, they refused and placed barricades," an ex-serviceman told ANI.

He further said that they have been protesting for the past 700 days at the Jantar Mantar for OROP, adding that the government is misleading the whole country that they have provided OROP.

The protest march was organised from the Jantar Mantar to India Gate to pay homage to the slain soldiers and to tell the people that the demand for OROP is still not been fulfilled.

"Our soldiers were mutilated on border. Why is the government not doing anything?" asked Subedar-Major R. L. Verma.

"The police are saying that they are following the orders from the Home Ministry. If that is true then this is misfortune of the country that we have such people in power," said another protestor.

The protestors kept raising slogans like "Jis desh ke sainik sadkon par us desh ka durbhagya hai" and "Sadda Haq Aitthe Rakh".
