Facebook's redesigned News Feed just 'subtle' tweak of original

Facebook has launched its redesigned News Feed, which is nothing like its previous overhauls but a subtle tweak displaying larger pictures in the feed.

The new News Feed contains just two major changes, one where updates are set off from the background of the page by making them look like white cards against a gray surface.

The tweak also shows the updates little lower than they used to, giving the effect that a user's name and profile picture have been grouped together as a header, apart from a slightly different font for easy reading, Washington Post reports.

According to the report, the latest range of tweaks come in place of a previously planned overhaul that Facebook announced last year, but it never reached consumers for its drastic and unifying look across desktop and mobile screens.

However, the company has retained a feature from the proposed design, which shows more prominent pictures in the feed, in-line with the company's focus on photos, especially after Instagram takeover.

The white cards in the new design do mirror the look of Facebook's latest social news reader app, Paper, which has won rave reviews from design critics for its look and usability, the report added.
