The first trial run of Spanish-built Talgo train will be held on the Bareilly-Moradabad rail route in Uttar Pradesh on May 29.
The first Talgo train trial will be conducted at a maximum speed of 115 km per hour for oscillation test.
The next trials of the Talgo trains, which are capable of hitting a maximum speed of 200 km per hour, will be conducted on Mathura-Palwal corridor and Delhi-Mumbai corridor.
Besides reducing travel time, Talgo's lighter trains consume 30 per cent less energy which will help railways reduce their power bill.
As per reports, the coaches of Talgo trains have seats set close to each other, like in planes, and just a normal luggage rack along the top side of the coach.
The space between the seats, which face each other with a wall-mounted table in between, do not leave any space for anything bigger than a briefcase.
Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu had earlier this month told the Rajya Sabha that the government is working to bring faster trains with more facilities while trying to meet the expectations of the society.
Prabhu, who was replying to a debate on the Railways Appropriation Bill, said the railways is trying to meet these diverse expectations as he mentioned seven missions including the 'Mission to have zero accidents', 'Mission on Speed' and 'Mission on accounting reform' etc.
