Sri Lankan coach Graham Ford has reportedly declined the offer to extend his two-year term beyond January 2014 and has indicated that he will quit after that period.
Confirming Ford's decision, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has stated that the South African has taken this decision following discussions with his family on the options given by the cricket board
According to Sport24, Ford, who made known his decision to step down earlier this month, had been requested by the Sri Lankan board to reconsider after being offered undisclosed options.
The report mentioned that Ford will mentor Sri Lanka for the last time in their series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in December, which consists of three Tests, five one-day internationals and two Twenty20 games.
Under Ford, who has been linked to the vacant coaching position with English county side Surrey, the report mentioned that Sri Lanka was runners-up to the West Indies in the World Twenty20 in 2012 and also won a home Test series against Pakistan.
Sri Lanka will need to have a new coach in place before the Asia Cup and the next World Twenty20 in Bangladesh in February and March-April respectively, the report added.
