A former officer of the Indian National Army (INA) Major (Retd.) Ishwar Lal said here today that the campaign to declassify files will result in taking away the title of 'Netaji' given to freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose.

"I don't know what is there in the files regarding his (Netaji's) disappearance. The truth will be revealed only when the files are de-classified. I feel that there is just insult for Netaji in those files. There is no one to answer to what is written in those files," he told ANI.

Major(Retd.) Lal further said Netaji would have definitely come back to India had he been alive.

"Netaji didn't let Japan issue its rupee in India and then Japanese wanted to finish him. If Netaji were alive, he would have definitely come back to India," he added.

Talking about his affiliation with Netaji, Major (Retd.) Lal recalled that he had met him during a courtesy call on Ras Bihari Bose.

"When I met him, I was just 12-years-old and was very enthusiastic," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier said that the process of declassification of files relating to Netaji would begin on his birth anniversary on January 23.
