The South African media has held its national cricket selection panel to blame for the country's current struggles in ODI cricket, as Sri Lanka recorded an emphatic eight-wicket victory over the Proteas in the fourth and deciding one day international on Sunday, reducing Wednesday's fifth and final match in Colombo to academic importance.
According to Sport24, last week, Cricket South Africa announced the re-appointment of Andrew Hudson as convener of the national selection committee as well as the appointment of two new selectors in former KwaZulu-Natal wicketkeeper Linda Zondi and former Gauteng all-rounder Hussein Manack.
Most fans said that the biggest problem of all was selection and that players were picked on the basis of what they had done in the past, the report said.
The report added that fans also had a problem with Andrew Hudson and said that a better job could be done.
