It's confirmed! HBO has ordered its first 'Game of Thrones' prequel.
The network has ordered a prequel drama of its most-watched original from writer Jane Goldman ('Kingsman: The Secret Service', 'X-Men: First Class', 'Kick-Ass') and author George R.R. Martin.
The pilot will take place "thousands of years before the events of 'Game of Thrones,'" the network said in a statement, as reported by The New York Times.
"The series chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour," HBO added.
"And only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend . it's not the story we think we know."
Meanwhile, the eighth and final season of 'Game of Thrones' is expected to launch in 2019.
