Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Thursday said the government has fulfilled most of the promises made during last year's general elections.

"The BJP came to power with a clear majority after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The government is actively working on the promises made by the BJP and our leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi during election campaign. Most of the promises have been fulfilled, and work has started in some, and a road map has been created for the rest of them," said Shah.

"Fuel prices have been reduced more than ten times in seven months, providing relief to people of the nation. Prime Minister Modi announced the Jan Dhan Yojana, while delivering a speech on 15th August and it was implemented in September itself," he added.

He also said that the government has been successful in opening up ten crore bank accounts in just seven months.

"The government has been successful in opening up ten crore bank accounts of people, in just seven months. The government decided that it is not right to provide price support to farmers in nation, where more than 65 per cent population depends on agriculture. We decided we will not stop providing price support to our farmers, and this condition has now been approved by WTO," he said.

Shah arrived on a two-day visit to the state earlier on Wednesday. The BJP chief is aiming to strengthen the party organisation in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh during his tour.
