Union Minister of Women and Child Development (WCD), Maneka Gandhi released draft model rules to repeal the existing rules for effective implementation of Juvenile Justice Act.
The draft rules take care of the development needs of children and child friendly procedures are incorporated in it.
In addition to draft rules, extensive forms have also been drafted to standardise and simplify prescribe procedures.
The rules provide for rehabilitations and reintegration of children through children's home, open shelter and observation and special homes.
The rules were framed by a multi disciplinary committee headed by a senior judge and comprised senior advocates, members of juvenile justice board and child welfare committees and mental and health experts.
