The Finance Ministry on Wednesday said the Goods and Services Tax (GST) council meeting scheduled for November 25 has been rescheduled to December 2 and 3.
It further stated that another meeting of the Law Sub-Committee comprising officers of the states and Centre has been now scheduled for November 25 in Delhi in order to finalise the draft GST related laws before placing them before the council.
The council chaired by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was expected to discuss the issue of administrative control of businesses and the model GST laws.
Jaitley had earlier this month stated the proposed GST needs to be rolled out by September 16, 2017, before the validity of the Constitutional Amendment brought in by the Centre and ratified by states expires.
Several states like West Bengal, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have insisted on exclusive control over small taxpayers, who earn less than Rs. 1.5 crore in annual revenue for both goods and services.
