Finance Minister P.Chidambaram on Saturday said that he had compiled figures that showed that Gujarat had performed just averagely on various parameters as compared to other states.
"I have compiled Gujarat's rank on various parameters. It is quite clear to me that Gujarat is an average state. Touting the Gujarat Model as a model that can be applied across India is a boastful claim, and I reject it," Chidambaram said.
He also said that markets performing better due to the potential arrival of Modi was a misnomer.
"If every rise is attributed to Modi coming, then every fall should also be attributed to it...The rise in the market is a sign that investors are more confident about stability in Indian economy," Chidambaram said.
