Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday expressed happiness over Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) firebrand leader Yogi Adityanath being elected as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.
"We are very happy that Yogi Adityanath has been elected as UP CM. He has sacrificed his life to fight against poverty and uplift the poor and we all expect him to continue his service and strengthen the state," Naidu told ANI.
Earlier also, Naidu had asserted that it was a watershed moment for the BJP and it had become a common man's party.
Yogi Adityanath, a five-time Lok Sabha MP from Gorakhpur, was unanimously elected BJP Legislature Party leader at a meeting of the newly-elected MLAs last evening here. He, later, met the Governor and staked claim to form the government in the state.
