Hundreds paid homage to Garud Commando Gursewak Singh, who sacrificed his life while defending Pathankot's Air Force Base from the terrorists, at his native place Garnala in Haryana's Ambala district on Monday.
Several top Air Force officials along with Haryana's Cabinet Minister Anil Vij took part in the wreath laying ceremony held to honour the Garud Commando's sacrifice.
Family members of the slain Commando mourned the loss as his body was brought to Garnala this morning. He will be cremated with full state honours later in the day.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had yesterday announced a compensation of Rs. 20 lakh to the family of the Garud Commando.
Seven security personnel have been martyred in the ongoing operation at Pathankot so far.
