Sri Lankan off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal has been banned from bowling the doosra after it was found illegal following an independent assessment.
Confirming the news, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has said that the assessment revealed that Kaushal's Doosra was found to exceed the 15-degree level of tolerance which is considered illegal under ICC regulations,Sport24 reported.
Meanwhile, ICC further said that the results also showed that Kaushal's elbow extension for all deliveries is under the regulations, adding that he could bowl off-breaks.
The doosra is the ball that bowled by an off-spinner which turns away from right-handed batsmen. It is aimed to confuse the batsman.
The 22-year-old appeared in six Tests for Sri Lanka. He had also taken two five-wicket hauls in his career, before he was reported for a suspect bowling action.
Sri Lanka will play two Test matches, three ODIs and two T20 internationals against West Indies from October 14.
