The Indian national U-16 football team head coach Bibiano Fernandes said the Four-Nation Hua Shan Cup CFA International Youth Football Tournament in Wei Nan has helped the team to understand the areas where "we need to improve."
The India U-16 team put up a heart-warming performance in China where they went down to their U-17 National Team by a solitary goal and conceded two goals in last three minutes to lose 1-3 to U-16 Thailand.
However, the colts bounced back in style holding a strong DPR Korea U-16 to a 1-1 draw in the final match.
"As a coach, it's my responsibility to take out the positives from any tournament. Looking back, the amount of chances which we created in the game gives me the confidence that we are on the right track," Bibiano said in a statement.
"We could have won the tournament if we had converted the chances we created. Looking back, that's also the area where we need to improve and we will be working hard on it," Bibiano added.
He said the team is now looking forward to rectify their weaknesses.
"We are working towards becoming the best versions of ourselves. We have already identified our weaknesses and started rectifying them. After every match we improve and learn in an attempt to become better players," he said.
"Playing against tough opponents have shown where we are and what we need to improve. It has also shown us how important it is to bolster our strengths," he added.
The U-16 boys now move to Thailand where they will be playing two friendly matches with U-17 Club teams before taking on U-16 Thailand National Team in the last match of the Thai tour.
After that, they will move to Malaysia to play two friendly matches against U-16 Malaysia National team.
