The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given the 'average' rating to the pitch of the newly-built Perth Stadium where India and Australia played their second Test of the ongoing four-match series.
The rating, which was given by match referee Ranjan Madugalle, is the lowest possible pass mark provided by the ICC while evaluating the pitch and outfield of a Test ground, Cricket.com.au reported.
The Perth wicket was highly criticised during the India-Australia clash as there was an uneven bounce on the track throughout the five days of the match. Many batsmen had suffered some nasty blows as well, due to its uneven bounce.
The Adelaide pitch, where the two teams played their opening Test, was rated as 'very good' by the ICC. As far as the venue for the third Test (Melbourne Cricket Ground) is concerned, the pitch curators are putting their effort to make it lively as the heavy rain showers had hit the area making it a difficult task to maintain the quality of the wicket.
In order to improve the standard of pitches around the world, ICC had introduced a disciplinary system that would rate the Test the venues as very good, good, average, below average and poor.
