President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday said that India is the largest functional democracy of the world with its own inherent strength which can manifest itself whenever the situation demands.
President Mukherjee conveyed this to the participants of the 25th Know India Programme for Diaspora Youth, who called on him at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.
Speaking on the occasion, President Mukherjee appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India, to organize the programme.
He said that it is necessary for us to know about our roots and the places from where we originated. He said that the programme would be an enriching experience for the young men and women.
The group comprised of 27 young men and women from eight countries.
