Till the last year, Chinese statues had a strong hold in Indian markets, affecting business interest of Indian sculptor artists, but this year there is a great demand of indigenous idols of Goddesses Laxmi and Lord Ganesha.

The soaring demand has generated tremendous enthusiasm among the sculptor artists, who themselves don't know the reason.

In the Hindu festival of Diwali, Goddesses Laxmi and Lord Ganesha are worshiped in every household with which Lakshmi and Ganesha idols are bought every Diwali festival.

This time, sculptors from Moradabad have made "eco-friendly" idols of Goddesses Lakshami and Lord Ganesha.

The sculptors have used mud that gets dissolved easily in water, and also have used natural colours which does not harm anyone.

The demand for the idols in the markets is such that they are even unable to fulfil the market order.

Last year, artists had started selling Chinese idols due to depression in the demand, but now customers are asking for India-made idols, while refusing to buy Chinese idols.

"Our colours are sparkling, they are made of water and they are not harmful, they don't damage our hands, it's due to all these reasons that the sale is high and it's also cheap. People are buying Indian idols and are refusing to buy the Chinese one," said sculptor Prabha to ANI.
