India's over billion population cannot be overawed by Pakistan's 'Million March': MEA

Reacting to a proposed "Million March" by Pakistanis in London on October 26 to protest alleged human rights violations by India, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on Friday said that India is a country of over a billion people, and therefore, a march by a million Pakistanis would not and could not overawe it.

"We are a country of billion; even millions do not overawe us. We were reassured that UK's view is clear that it is for India and Pakistan to resolve all matters by themselves. With that we are assured of any march, be it million march or any other march," said Akbaruddin.

"Resolutions passed by Parliament are internalization processes, and this is for that country to take a view on. We do not see any option of any third party being involved in this; as far as internationalization is concerned we are against it," he added. he rally will begin in London's Trafalgar Square and end at Prime Minister David Cameron's office at 10 Downing Street where a petition would be submitted asking Britain to push India into resolving the Kashmir impasse with Pakistan

Earlier on Thursday, Pakistan's Parliament unanimously passed a resolution against the alleged 'unprovoked and indiscriminate' ceasefire violations by India and asked the government to seek UN intervention to resolve the Kashmir issue.

The resolution, which was moved by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, stated that the National Assembly condemned Indian ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB).
