Indian Defence Accounts Service probationers call on Mukherjee

Twenty three probationers of the Indian Defence Accounts Service 2012 and 2010 batches called on President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Speaking on the occasion, President Mukherjee said officers of the Indian Defence Accounts Service discharge a very important responsibility and role in the country.

"Ensuring that wasteful expenditure does not take place is a great task," he noted.

He added that the responsibilities of the group were tremendous and the complexity of their task is one that is increasing, given the appreciating trend of defence expenditure.

Mukherjee said that he was certain that the training, which the probationers were undergoing, would not only make them responsible, but also responsive.

He also urged them to remain true to their own conscience and encouraged them to apply their own judgment after an honest appraisal.

The probationers are presently undergoing training at headquarters office of the Defence Account Department, that is, the Controller General of Defence Accounts, Delhi Cantt.
