South Africa paceman Dale Steyn is reportedly available for selection for their 'must-win' ICC Champions Trophy match against the West Indies at the Cardiff Stadium on Friday.
According to Sport24, South Africa is hoping that the added pressure from their match against the Caribbean will bring out the best in the team, adding that they flourished under the same pressure against Pakistan on Monday, and are carrying some winning momentum and confidence going into the match.
The report further said that Steyn became available after passing his fitness test, and will be an added boost to a seam attack whose execution and skill was impressive against Pakistan.
However, Proteas captain AB de Villiers said that it will be a difficult decision to make as to whether or not to select Steyn for the game because other bowlers have performed very well in the previous game, although he added that they maybe looking at keeping two spinners for the game.
Stating that he will have to discuss with outgoing head coach Gary Kirsten to make the final decision on Steyn's availability, De Villiers further said that he hoped that the match against West Indies will bring out his team's best as it did in the previous games, adding that they will they had had a knock-out approach in the game against Pakistan.
According to De Villiers, the Proteas have a good intensity, energy and a fantastic team spirit, adding that he hoped that they handle the pressure situations against the Caribbean like they did in the previous games.
