Australian pacer Ryan Harris is reportedly hoping to manage his damaged knee in order to play until the 2015 Ashes series.

Harris, who overcame a hip flexor injury bowling Australia to victory on day five of the final Test against South Africa, is going for a knee surgery next week, which he had postponed during the 2013-14 Ashes.

According to News.com.au, Harris, who has consistently displayed his resilience and ability to play with pain since his Test debut in 2010, said that he has got a few bone spurs 'rubbing' against his 'PCL' and 'ACL'.

Although critics would have been lining up to put to pasture other players with same problems as Harris, however, Harris has consistently showed since making his Test debut that he is of a different kind, and only a brave man would doubt his latest injury comeback.

Australia will face Pakistan in their next Test in October and Harris has planned to put the rare break to good use by training at Brisbane's National Cricket Centre and he said that he has got the best people to take care of him.

Harris, who has jumped to No. 2 in the ICC's Test bowling rankings, has admitted that he was a little bit 'underdone' fitness wise in the Test series against South Africa and said that he needs a good pre-season to build up some 'good strength'.
