The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, including capital Shimla, are reeling under intense cold after heavy snowfall in the region yesterday evening.
Shimla, Kufri and several other towns in the area were wrapped in a thick white blanket of snow while the mid and lower hills experienced moderate to heavy rain.
According to reports, the mercury has dipped by several degrees across the state after change in the weather. The met department has predicted dry weather during next 24 hours.
Most of the roads in Shimla bore a deserted look due to relentless snowfall. Rohru and Chopal areas of Shimla district were cut off due to snowfall while traffic towards Kinnaur district has been diverted through Basantpur.
The situation in Jammu and Kashmir is no better, with intense snowfall being reported from Rajouri district in the state in the last 24 hours.
