Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has banned direct talks with the United States due to what he described as "countless harm" to the country's interests.
According to Fox News, Khamenei said that the US had harmed Iran's national interests.
The supreme leader's statement came as he addressed elite Guard commanders in Tehran.
He also accused the US of imposition, saying that it wants to harm his country's national interests under the garb of "negotiations."
Khamenei's statement marks a sharp reversal as Iranian President Hassan Rouhani earlier said that he was willing to hold talks with the US regarding management of Syrian crisis.
