Jharkhand: Jean Dreze detained, later released by police

Economist and activist Jean Dreze was detained and interrogated earlier on Thursday on charges of holding an event without permission in Jharkhand's Garwa area.

He was later released by police.

According to reports, Dreze was holding a public meeting on the right to food.

Dreze and his associates were reportedly holding a meeting without permission from district authorities.
