A five-member Iranian delegation led by country's Cultural Counselor Mohammad Ali Rabbani held talks with Jawaharlal Nehru University's Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar on Tuesday to expand cooperation between Tehran's Allameh Tabataba'i University and JNU's School of International Studies (SIS).
This was the first visit undertaken by the delegation to the JNU after the signing of an agreement on the same between SIS's Center for West Asian Studies (CWAS) and Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) in August, last year.
Speaking to ANI, Sharad K Soni, Director, International Collaborations, JNU, said, "the Iranian delegation informed the Vice-Chancellor that there is much scope of Indian Studies in Tehran. We told them that the JNU would provide academic support to the (Tehran's Allameh Tabataba'i) University for the initiation of courses in this regard."
Soni was present at the meeting between the Iranian delegation and the Vice-Chancellor.
Allameh Tabataba'i University is one of Iran's most eminent universities in humanities and social sciences.
