After director Todd Phillips unveiled the first look of actor Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker, Arthur, from the untitled Batman film, Twitterverse is in awe of the actor.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Phillips had shared a short screen test which featured Phoenix in his Joker avatar. Since then, more footage has been leaked of the actor's portrayal.
In a recent picture, the 43-year-old was spotted on the set with his Joker makeup, green hair, and burgundy suit at a subway Station in New York City.
Praising Phoenix, a Twitter user wrote, "I gotta say, when I first saw the screen test, I was thinking to myself "well shit, this might screw up the good run that DC has what with #Shazam and #Aquaman, however seeing this footage and hearing rumours that this will take place before Bruce's parents, aka Thomas and."
In another tweet, a user said, "In most of his movies he stars in, always does his research on the character he's playing and makes sure that he nitpicks the key details of a character that you don't see in most other actors and actresses when he's actually playing his character."
Sharing some quotes from the comic, a user uploaded pictures of Phoenix as Joker on the sets of the film.
"I'm dying to hear Joaquin's Joker voice and laugh," wrote another user.
The film follows the origin of Batman's most notorious enemy as he transforms from a struggling stand-up comedian to a full-blown criminal. The studio described the film as an "exploration of a man disregarded by the society that is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale."
Helmed by Phillips, who also co-wrote the script with Scott Silver, the movie is scheduled to hit the big screens on October 4, 2019.
