John Ridley has been awarded the 'Best Adapted Screenplay' Oscar for '12 Years a Slave'.
According to the Guardian, the American writer had previously revealed that he worked unpaid on the script for the Oscar nominated film for four years.
Lupita Nyong'o has also received the Oscar for her role in '12 Years A Slave' at the 86th Annual Academy Awards.
